Hello, neighbor! I’m Davy Mayer and I’m running to be the next Alder for District 6 on Madison’s near-east side. I have a long history of neighborhood activism and a record of advocating for increased housing opportunities through development that is compatible with zoning and our historic districts, making transit alternatives mainstream and ensuring that the voices of my neighbors are represented to city government at all levels.
Abundant, affordable housing
Housing is a human right, but in growing Madison finding a home too often feels like a game of musical chairs.
I’ll make sure the city builds enough homes of all kinds to go around, especially affordable housing, co-ops, duplexes, triplexes, quadplexes, accessory dwelling units, and social housing.
World-class, people-first transportation
In progressive Madison, we should be world leaders in sustainable public transit and green, walkable neighborhoods.
I’m running to expand our public transportation budget, to bring frequent, green, high-quality transit to all parts of our city, to increase our tree canopy, and to put people ahead of cars and parking lots.
It’s not just the right thing for our climate — it also keeps our neighborhoods clean, livable, healthy, uncongested, and quiet.
A city for everyone
Equity must not be just a buzzword — it must inform everything we do.
I’ll fight for everyone to have affordable housing and fantastic transit options, regardless of their zip code.
I’ll fight to close racial disparities in healthcare, wealth, education, and policing.
And I’ll fight to ban tear gas, freeze the MPD budget, and expand the CARES team to reduce police encounters like the one that killed Tony Robinson.
I look forward to meeting you during the campaign ahead. Please reach out to me with any questions, concerns, or how you can help!
